Documenting design and territory through image
On going work with Studio Cifuentes, The Chair of Architecture and Resources, to introduce video as part of the Chair's research at the ETH. Video is used to document spaces and processes of construction, making their temporality and complexity visible. It allows us to follow the emergence of a space through its different stages, rhythms, and durations—from short, immediate actions to slow and extended cycles of (re)generation and the life of a place.
As a medium, it offers a particular way of understanding architecture: not simply as a finished object, but as something that unfolds and transforms over time. Through the combination of and captured moments, curated images, movement and sound, it can construct narratives that make changes in space and modes of making perceptible.
Beyond documentation and pedagogy, video is also a tool for critical thinking, analysis, and research. It can help us observe, question, and communicate architectural processes from different perspectives.
