Building an interactive & immersive digital experience
I designed these maps for the Google Video Summit. The brief was to build an abandoned space that was being reclaimed and repurposed by its' visitors as an environment to come together to create, learn and share ideas. This disused factory became home to this virtual summit. Building upon the 80's/90's VHS aesthetic from the event branding I wanted the map to feel organic and familiar whilst simultaneously embracing the digital medium to encourage interaction and exploration.
Using elements of Risograph printing, RGB video distortion & isometric drawing to create textures I then used GIFs and clickable icons to bring the map to life. The various breakout sessions would take place in the studio where each room was represented by a classic scene from Hollywood film history.
